Global wind capacity increased 37,500 MW in 2009 (Feb 4, 2010)

The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) said that the world’s wind power capacity grew by 37,500 MW, or 31 percent, in 2009. Total installations are now up to 157,900 MW.
